U.S. Military Executes Strike on Drug Trafficking Vessel

On Saturday, the U.S. military carried out a targeted operation in the Caribbean, resulting in the deaths of four individuals identified as alleged “narco-terrorists.” This action was confirmed by U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM).

SOUTHCOM reported that on September 19, under its guidance, the Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere executed a lethal strike on a speedboat that was reportedly operating along known drug trafficking routes in the Caribbean. They stated that confirmed intelligence indicated the boat was actively involved in narcotics trafficking.

The strike forms part of a broader initiative launched several months ago by the Trump administration, aimed at dismantling networks associated with drug cartels.

Interestingly, just a week before this incident, on September 9, another military operation targeted a different vessel linked to drug trafficking, which also resulted in three fatalities.

Following a series of operations, at least 231 deaths are reported to have occurred due to this ongoing campaign against suspected cartel vessels, with approximately 69 strikes reported over the past year.

Videos released by SOUTHCOM showcase the intense nature of these operations, showing boats being intercepted and their crews removed, often culminating in the vessels sinking.

Many recent actions have specifically targeted vessels connected to Los Choneros, which the military has labeled as a violent “narco-terrorist” group.
