Both fugitives are believed to be in Mexico.

“President Trump has pledged to crack down on the fatal drug flow to our country,” F. Cartwright Wyland, director of the State Department’s International Drug Law Enforcement Office, said in a statement.

According to the State Department, the DEA estimates that the LNFM is responsible for the transport, import and distribution of more than 36 metric tons of methamphetamine, 12 metric tons of heroin in Mexico and 12 metric tons of cocaine from Mexico to the United States.

The cartel was designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the State Department on February 20th.

“LNFM is a drug trafficking organisation based primarily in the Mexico state of Guerrero and Michoacan, which traffics fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine to the United States, and says it has laundered revenues from these illegal drugs through the US financial system.

“In addition to addiction to Americans, the group is engaged in acts of fear and violence within Mexico. For example, LNFM uses drones to ignorate Mexican civilians and drop bombs on their rivals. They terrorize the community through lures, killings and extensions.”
