As you’d expect, there’s an absolutely indecent amount of glorious tennis awaiting us, so let’s get on with enjoying it. On Ashe, we get to see both top seeds, Iga Swiatek and man-of-the-moment Jannik Sinner while, on Armstrong, there’s Danielle Collins and Daniil Medvedev with a potential banger in between, Jelena Ostapenko facing Naomi Osaka.

Elsewhere, the improving Thanasi Kokkinakis takes on Stefanos Tsitsipas; Corentin Moutt v Seb Korda should be good; Elena Rybakina gets going; and we’re also getting Katie Boulter, Caroline Wozniacki, orter man-of-the-moment Jack Draper, Alex de Minaur, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Karolina Muchová, Dan Evans v Karen Khachanov, Hubie Hurkacz and on and on and Ariston. Awesome!

With the score tied at 30-30, Boulter picked up the pace with a forehand cross and Sasnovich responded by smashing the ball into the net. Losing a break point increases the pressure and another mistake means he's serving again at 5-5 in the first set.
Boulter said: Sasnovich was forced to serve for the first set at 5-4, and against Armstrong, Dolehyde started the second set better than the first and now trails Collins 6-1, 1-2.
Mensik beat Auger-Aliassime 6-2 to win the first set, while Hurkacz leads Skatov 6-3. Sasnovich is looking more solid, with Boulter having to serve to hold the first set at 3-5, while Kokkinakis is leading 4-3 at Armstrong… but as I write this, he fires off a break and hits two forehands into the net at doubles to give Tsitsipas the game and make it 4-4.
Sasnovich qualified and is in good form. She had already won three matches to reach this stage, and things didn't go Bowlter's way, breaking her for 4-3. There are some reminiscent of Joe Durie in her serve, but her distinctive move has managed to hold up so far.
The report noted that it would help Tsitsipas if he could hit a proper backhand slice. And it's a little odd that he's made so little progress on that wing, especially given all the effort he's put into working on it. In any case, he secured a tough hold at 30-30 with a down-the-line forehand winner, Collins led 6-1 over Dolehyde, Mensik 5-2 over Auger-Aliassime, Thompson 6-1 over Lestienne, Hurkacz 5-2 over Skatov and Muchova 6-3 over Volinecs.
Boulter got a break point and controlled the next rally. She spun a forehand around and smashed it into the corner… and then after extending her lead, she hit another shot into the net that went wide, and then Sasnovich secured the hold, thanks to a nice high-kick ace, at 3-3.
So who do you think will win here? If Carlos Alcaraz wins the men's singles, the Grand Slam is just a matter of the Australian Open, but is Novak Djokovic back? His performance in the Olympic final was sensational, and he's made a career out of baffling us, but maybe this is a final effort to make sure he doesn't end his career without a gold medal. Or maybe he's found himself again. If so, it will take something big to stop him. Of course Alcaraz, and Sinner, and probably Zverev, are exactly that, so it will not be easy if that happens. But I'm going to jump in and predict a Djokovic win. Andrew Baron Murray Alcaraz.
Kokkinakis has won just two matches in New York but consolidated the break and now leads 2-1. But Sasnovich managed to get the point that Boult had replaced to make it 2-2 in the first set. Elsewhere, Tabiro (22) is leading 3-1 over Goffin, this blog's favourite Muchova is leading 4-1 over Voirnetz and Mensik is leading 3-1 over Auger-Aliassime.
A great strong start from Bowlter; She leads Sasnovich 2-0, and Collins leads Dolehyde 2-0. Am I the only one singing her name to this banging tune? Seriously? Come on.
And he can't do that. After Kokkinakis broke to make it 1-0, our coach, Kalv Betton, the current Wimbledon men's doubles champion, reported: “As is always the case with Tsitsipas, it will depend on whether or not he can land his poor backhand. Still, Kokkinakis is a choker, so he will probably win, even though he likes to pretend he's not. In close matches, he almost always loses.”
Kokkinakis quickly had two break points. Tsitsipas saved the first with a service winner, then the second, but then had to save the third when a forehand hit the net…
Let's go!
I am wrong. You can pick the matches so I have Tsitsipias vs Kokkinakis on my phone and I watch what's on the two main channels – oh, Boulter vs Sasnovich on one and Collins vs Dolehide on the other – I don't pick the latter but you can only pick matches if you have an app on your phone or iPad and I don't have the latter.
We are everywhere except Ash It's coming up. I don't think I'll be able to watch all the matches, I just need to watch the ones they are showing. I wanted to see Paolini (5) vs Andreescu and Tsitsipas (11) vs Kokkinakis, but I think Boulter (31) vs Sasnovich will be on one of two channels.
I'm sorry, please forgive me. I forgot to mention that Jasmy Paolini, recently ranked 5th, will be taking on 2021 champion Bianca Andreescu. Not here, I'm in a box room in North London. There.
I was surprised 🙄 https://t.co/UvedYop7g0
