“The US State Department is promptly moving to revoke all visas held by South Sudanese passport holders, stopping any further issuances to deter South Sudanese passport holders from entering the US.” He mentioned at a press gathering.

“Every nation must facilitate the return of its nationals promptly when other nations, including the United States, attempt to deport them,” the statement expressed.

Rubio also noted that new and stricter policies will only be reconsidered if South Sudan engages with the Trump administration’s stipulations.

“Should this take effect immediately, all visa appointments will be voided, and no new visas will be granted. Given that current visas are ineffective, no individuals from South Sudan will be able to enter the US on a visa until the matter is resolved,” Rubio concluded in his statement.

South Sudan is presently functioning under a transitional government aimed at preventing a complete civil war in Central African nations. It remains uncertain if this action will impact the number of South Sudanese citizens residing in the US.

Mediators convened in the capital, Juba, earlier this week to sidestep a revival of civil conflict after First Vice President Riek Machar was placed under house arrest.

Machar was apprehended following weeks of clashes that erupted between the army and white militia on March 3rd.
