A US woman charged with murdering her 79-year-old roommate has soaked herself in Mountain Dew to erase forensic evidence from her body. new york post report. Nicole Max, 35, allegedly beat and stabbed her roommate to death at his home where he lived.
Investigators say she set fire to her house and fled the scene in an attempt to cover up evidence. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they extinguished the fire and found the man dead on the floor. According to the affidavit, the victim suffered blunt force trauma to the back of the head and multiple stab wounds to the torso.
The deceased male landlord told police that Max was the other tenant, but she was nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, police recovered a blood-stained knife and two mobile phones near the victim’s body, and found blood splatters on the walls. fox news report.
Authorities later found a barefoot, disheveled woman outside a nearby restaurant, and when confronted, the woman “dropped a knife and a hammer at her feet.”
She denied knowing the victim and said she was homeless. Daytona Beach police detained her for questioning because she evaded her other questions and gave her contradictory statements.
Police then told Max that they were going to take a DNA sample because they had a warrant. She then requested a Diet Mountain Dew. Officers said she started procrastinating while drinking soda. When her cops tried to take it away from her, Ms. Max poured the soda on her body and her hair, and she poured it on herself.
However, her DNA was later found in the handle of a knife next to the victim’s body.
She is being held without bail at the Volusia County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on September 5.
