A University of Southern California student has been arrested after allegedly stabbing to death a homeless man who was attempting to burgle his car outside an on-campus dorm, authorities said.
Ivan Gallegos, a 19-year-old student, allegedly witnessed a homeless man attempting to break into multiple vehicles on Greek Street at USC and intervened. Fox 11.
Los Angeles police said Gallegos was arrested on suspicion of murder, but the media outlet did not say for certain whether he was being charged with murder. He has no criminal history and his bail is set at $2 million.

Police said they received a call Monday night about three University of Southern California students who had attacked a man and gotten into an argument, Fox 11 reported.
During the argument, Gallegos allegedly stabbed the man, who later died after sustaining serious injuries.
Police said the man collapsed in a hallway between two dorms in the 700 block of West 28th Street in Los Angeles’ University Park neighborhood. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident happened near a small homeless camp.
Police said there are multiple surveillance cameras along Greek Row and investigators will continue to review footage.
USC told the outlet that Gallegos was a third-year business student.
