Corbin Albert, a soccer player for the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT), announced her first post on Saturday after receiving backlash for posting a video of a teenager who stopped believing she was transgender after finding God. He was booed when he entered the match.
Albert came on as a substitute in the 78th minute of the USWNT’s SheBelieves Cup match against Japan at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Boos could be heard from the crowd after the PA announcer said her name.

When Albert was substituted for a free-kick that resulted in a shot on goal, the boos were fleeting and the fans’ attention quickly returned to the action of the match.
Backlash against Albert intensified after LGBT activist and former USWNT member Megan Rapinoe criticized him for posting a detransition video.
“For those of you who want to hide behind what you believe in, I have one question for you: You make all kinds of spaces look safer, more inclusive, more whole, better. , “Do you bring out the best in someone?” Rapinoe Aeon Instagram.
“Because you believe in his hatred, if not all of it. And children are literally killing themselves because of this hatred. Wake up, TF, wake up!”

The criticism of Rapinoe may have come in part because Albert liked a social media post mocking Rapinoe’s ankle injury in her last game.
Following Rapinoe’s criticism and intense backlash on social media, Albert apologized for posting the video.
“I sincerely apologize for my actions on social media. Likes and shares that are offensive, insensitive, and harmful posts are immature and disrespectful, and that is not what I intended. It wasn’t,” she said.
“I am truly disappointed in myself and deeply apologize for the hurt I caused to my teammates, other players, fans, friends and anyone I offended.
“I truly believe that everyone should feel safe and respected everywhere, in every arena. I know my actions were not worthy of that, and I sincerely apologize. It is an honor and a privilege to play this sport on the world stage and I am committed to doing better.”
The United States defeated Japan with a final score of 2-1.
