Two Utah parents have been charged with raping their 15-year-old daughter because “it was safer for her than having sex with a stranger,” police have revealed in disturbing details.
The girl’s mother and stepfather, both in their 30s, were booked into the Utah County Jail on March 7 after the girl became a teenager. report KSL reported the abuse was reported to Provo police.
According to the booking affidavit, the girl stated that her father had been raping her for the past year and a half. Her name and the names of her parents are not being released to protect the identity of her minor child.
Upon further investigation by police, the parents allegedly admitted to sexually abusing their daughter for over a year.
The man told police that he proposed to his daughter when she was 14 years old because he “knew the victim wanted to meet strangers and have sex.”
The stepfather explained that he and his wife “determined that teaching the victim about sex and having sex with the victim was safer than having sex with a stranger,” the affidavit states.
The girl’s mother initially told police that her daughter was just watching her husband have sex and was using a sex toy she had bought for her, but her stepfather Admitted ABC 4 reports that he had full sexual intercourse with the teen.
The mother is also said to have had sex with her daughter.
The victim told police that her mother was aware of the sexual contact between her and her husband.
The parents were charged with forcible sodomy, physical rape, and forcible sexual abuse, and the stepfather was charged with an additional charge of rape.
The disgraced couple, who have four more children, were held without bail because they posed a “grave risk” to their other children, local media reported.
