A longtime Utah judge who boasts active involvement with young people reportedly sent sexual images and videos to young girls on an online messaging platform, officials said.
Kevin Robert Christensen, 64, was arrested Thursday after the FBI's Child Exploitation and Trafficking Task Force discovered several sexually explicit chat threads with young children on his Kik account, multiple outlets reported.
Officials say the Box Elder County jurist's illness chat dates back to September last year.
He is also accused of using the platform to discuss his “vivid” interest in children with other adults. Reported by Longview News-Journal.
“The position of trust he holds in the community and the actions he undertakes in this position will significantly undermine the community's trust in the legitimacy of the criminal justice system,” the police report read. According to Fox 13.
Authorities began an investigation on February 28 after learning that Christensen was using the platform to talk about a child sexually abusing.
Investigators are allegedly engaged in “graphic sexual chat” with a user who claimed to be a 13-year-old girl on November 2, 2024. ABC4 reported.
In the same chat, Christensen sent a video of an adult man having sex with a minor, reported by Fox13, who later told them that their indecent conversation was “just a fantasy.”

In September, Christensen is said to have communicated with someone who claimed he was a 16-year-old girl. ABC4 reported that they sent indecent images to the person they received from their children and to minors in return.
“These actions indicate that the defendant is clearly a danger to the community,” the affidavit stated, the Longview News Journal reported.
He was charged with two counts of minor seduction, two counts of minor sexual exploitation, and two counts of transaction material harmful to minors harmful to all felony, prison records show.
Christensen was appointed to Box Elder County Court of Justice in May 1996. He worked in private practice before being appointed to the bench. According to his bio.
The crazy judge, a graduate of the Gonzaga University School of Law, was awarded the Scott M. Matheson Award in 2006 for his unpaid services to legal education.
“In addition to judicial and family duties, Judge Christensen often talks to various youth and civic groups about the structure and function of the court system,” his Bio says.
County officials reportedly placed their PERV on administrative leave unpaid after his arrest.
Christensen is being held without bail at the Davis County Jail.
