Valerie Bertinelli Opens Up About Acting Project

Lights, cameras, action! Valerie Bertinelli has shared her feelings of apprehension and excitement as she dives back into the acting world.

The 65-year-old former Food Network star recently announced she is gearing up for a significant on-screen project, though she hasn’t revealed many specifics just yet.

“I’m really grateful but also a little worried,” she mentioned on Instagram. “It’s an incredible script by a fantastic writer, and the cast is beyond my wildest dreams.”

Bertinelli expressed her thoughts to her 1.6 million followers, noting that she hasn’t participated in single-camera production for at least four years. She described the role as beautiful but mentioned needing to push through barriers and embrace vulnerability for authentic emotions to surface.

“Honestly, I knew I felt a bit scared—it’s been a while—but I really understood the depth of that fear when I saw the selfies I took for production,” she reflected.

Despite her confidence in managing her anxiety, she realized her eyes conveyed more than she intended. “I thought I was handling things well, but clearly, my eyes said otherwise.”

She acknowledged that her pre-acting nerves come from her desire to excel. “This is just my process, and I’m okay with it,” she added, sharing two selfies from her garden.

“I’ve been at this for over 50 years; it’s like riding a bike, right? Still, I absolutely love this script and want to do it justice.”

Bertinelli continued, “So, feel the fear and do it anyway. Channel that fear and anxiety into joy and excitement—they’re really just different sides of the same coin.”

In a follow-up post on Instagram, she shared her final reflections before starting her project. “Little things bring me happiness and gratitude,” she noted while tagging the post’s location in Vancouver, British Columbia. “Does the morning sun filter through the windows? I’m so happy.”

“4:18 a.m. call time tomorrow morning?” she added. “Maybe not ideal, but I’m very grateful to be working.”
