Valerie Perine’s Cause of Death Revealed

Valerie Perine passed away at the age of 82, with the cause of death reported as acute cardiopulmonary arrest, attributed to Parkinson’s disease. This information was confirmed on her death certificate, as noted in various reports.

Additionally, dementia was listed as a contributing factor in her death, according to the Los Angeles Department of Health.

Tributes and Remembrance

Perine, who died on March 23, had been living with Parkinson’s disease since her diagnosis in 2015. Her longtime friend, Stacey Souther, expressed deep sadness over Perine’s passing, sharing on social media how she faced her illness with remarkable courage and grace. Souther described her as an inspiration who truly lived life to its fullest.

“The world feels less beautiful without her,” Souther said, adding a heartfelt message of love and remembrance.

Career Highlights

Valerie Perine is perhaps best known for her roles in the Oscar-nominated film “Lenny” (1974), where she showcased her talent as an actress. She also portrayed Lex Luthor’s girlfriend in the first two “Superman” films, becoming a recognizable face in Hollywood.

After her role in “Superman II,” she starred in the television drama “Leo and Liz in Beverly Hills,” alongside Harvey Korman.

Throughout her career, Perine appeared in numerous TV shows, including episodes of “ER” and “Nash Bridges,” as well as several parts on “As the World Turns” and a role in the 2000 film “What Women Want.”

Her breakout performance came in George Roy Hill’s adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut’s “Slaughterhouse-Five” in 1972, which marked the beginning of a diverse and successful career in film and television.
