The PGA Tour will remain in Lone Star status for another week, as the Valero Texas Open will be held just before the Masters.
Of the 90 players who will tee up at Augusta National, 25 will compete this week at TPC San Antonio. That list includes Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Tommy Fleetwood, Max Homa and young Swedish prodigy Ludvig Oberg.
Last year in San Antonio, Canadian Corey Connors defeated Sam Stevens by one stroke, marking his second career victory at the Valero Texas Open. Interestingly, Connors’ PGA Tour win is his only second at this event, having also won here in 2019.
Connors, who just won last year in San Antonio, missed out on a spot at the Masters, ending his three consecutive top-10 finishes at Augusta.
Other past winners of the Valero Texas Open include Jordan Spieth, Zach Johnson, Adam Scott and Charlie Hoffman, all of whom will compete this week.
The Valero Texas Open dates back to 1922 and is currently the third-oldest event on the PGA Tour. This event has been held in San Antonio since its inception and keeps him in one city longer than any other event on the Tour. The tournament established its current home in 2010 at TPC San Antonio. Competition began in the same year, designed by Greg Norman.
