Vice President Vance Honors Charlie Kirk at College Event

On Wednesday, Vice President Vance paid homage to his late friend and conservative activist Charlie Kirk by engaging directly with students at the University of Mississippi.

Vance, alongside Erica Kirk, addressed a packed arena as part of the Turning Point U.S. tour. He fielded questions from the audience in a manner reminiscent of Charlie Kirk’s “Prove Me Wrong” events that have become popular at Turning Point USA college gatherings.

“Approach the question, think it through, and don’t be nervous if you need to speak,” Vance encouraged. “We’re here to enjoy conversations, and that’s what matters.”

During one of the more heated moments of the evening, a student challenged Vance on various topics, pressing him about cross-cultural marriages, his strict immigration stance, and implications for those who have gone through the immigration process.

“I’m not trying to stir up trouble here,” she mentioned at one point.

“No worries, it’s not a chaotic situation,” Vance replied calmly.

Later, Vance clarified that his role as vice president was “not to look out for the interests of the world, but to look out for the American people,” which resonated with the crowd.

When questioned about potential conflicts of interest surrounding President Trump and Israel, particularly due to donor Miriam Adelson’s strong pro-Israel views, Vance asserted that Adelson is transparent about her stance and saw no conflict.

One attendee brought up the idea of integrating Christianity in public schools, while another inquired about how Vance intends to reach out to Democrats to mend the nation’s social and political rifts. He noted that there are points of agreement with Democrats, especially regarding the break-up of corporate monopolies.

At one moment, the crowd began chanting “48,” alluding to a potential run for the 48th presidency in 2028.

“Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves,” Vance said with a smile.

This event at the University of Mississippi marked a unique stop on the Turning Point U.S. tour, featuring Erica Kirk, Charlie Kirk’s widow. Other conservative figures like Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson have participated in similar events on various campuses recently.

Vance and Charlie Kirk shared a close friendship, with Kirk tragically killed during an event in September at Utah Valley University. Following his passing, Erica Kirk took the reins of Turning Point USA, striving to honor Charlie’s legacy and mission through events like this.
