Vance says Democrats are engaging in ‘schoolyard bully’ attacks

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) said in an interview that aired Sunday that Democrats are engaging in “bully-man” attacks, calling Republican candidates “wackos.”

“I think it’s really an attempt by them to deflect attention from the failure of their policies, which is basically the same as bullying in schools,” he said on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Dana Bash. “They can accuse me of anything.”

“I’m doing this because I believe that me being vice president will make people’s lives better, so I accept their attacks. But I think it’s a little bit self-projection, Dana,” Vance added.

Vance sought to launch a similar attack on the Democratic candidate, saying that Harris’ new running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D), “exchanged a firm Midwestern handshake with his wife and then awkwardly tried to correct himself” when he was nominated for vice president.

“So I think that these two people, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, are not happy with their policies for the American people, so they’re not happy with themselves and instead of actually telling the American people how they’re going to make their lives better, they’re talking crap. Dana, I know that’s weird, but they don’t care what they call me,” Vance said.

Waltz’s description of Vance as a “nutjob” sparked a political firestorm that led to his selection as vice presidential candidate, and Democrats have repeatedly used the term to describe their Republican opponents in recent weeks.
