Asked about the possibility of being former President Donald Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) said he plans to become a senator “in a few years” but would be “very interested” in the position.
Vance, one of the few remaining candidates to be Trump’s running mate if he is re-elected, has remained tight-lipped about his conversations with the former president, telling CBS’ “Face the Nation” that the public should focus on Trump’s success, not who he picks as his running mate.
He stressed that he is focused on serving Ohioans and has no plans to step down anytime soon.
“I love being a senator. I’m not looking to leave the United States Senate. It’s an honor to serve the people of Ohio. And frankly, if asked, I expect to do so within six months. I expect to do so in a few years,” he said.
She said that if Trump asked her to be his running mate, “I’d love to help him and of course I’d be very interested in the job.”
He also praised President Trump’s performance and criticized Biden’s performance as president.
“I’m not running for vice president. Let’s not forget that Donald Trump has been a very good president. He will be a very good president again. I think in some ways all this talk about the vice president is a distraction from the fact that Donald Trump is a successful president,” he said.
“President Joe Biden has failed. Let’s bring back success. Let’s bring back peace and prosperity,” he added.
