Pro-Palestinian protesters returned to Columbia University as classes began on Tuesday, picketing, calling on students to boycott classes, and even vandalizing buildings. alma mater The statue is located in the center of the New York campus.

On Tuesday, someone splashed red paint on a statue in front of Lowe Memorial Library. Outside the university's gates, a small group of protesters marched along a picket line, urging arriving students and faculty to join them instead of going to class.
“As long as Columbia continues to invest in and profit from Israeli apartheid, students will continue to resist,” Mahmoud Khalil, a graduate student who represented campus protesters in negotiations with the university, told The Associated Press last week ahead of the start of classes. “It's not just protests and encampments, the sky's the limit.”
The vandalism was celebrated by the national parent organization of Students for Justice in Palestine.

House Republicans, who have led investigations into anti-Semitism on college campuses, commented on the renewed protests at Columbia University.

Last week, Columbia University's Task Force on Anti-Semitism Found Universities failed to prevent anti-Semitism on campus.
Columbia University President Minouche Shafik resigned last month after failing to contain last semester's protests, which ended with the violent occupation of a university building by an anti-Israel mob.
