Vandals take over Westminster Mall, disturbing images reveal

Vandals have taken over an abandoned shopping mall, transforming its walls into a canvas of graffiti and turning the property into a site for illegal activities that look almost cinematic, like something out of an apocalyptic horror flick. In a worrying trend, the police have reported a surge in activity, with calls skyrocketing to 402 in just three months.

The Westminster Mall in Orange County, which shut its doors last October, has now become a focal point for vandalism and trespassing, as noted by local news sources.

In recent months, Westminster police have arrested individuals with outstanding warrants, processed nearly 250 charges, and made over 20 arrests within the last three months, according to officials.

Just in the past three days alone, there were 30 arrests and 57 police responses to calls, as highlighted in a recent police post on social media.

“Eastminster Mall is off-limits and closed to the public,” the police emphasized. “We will take strong measures against any criminal activities at mall locations.” Witnesses around the mall reported gatherings where numerous individuals were seen spray-painting inside, with one observer recalling seeing around 60 people in the mall last weekend without any security in sight.

A police spokesperson voiced concerns about safety, stating, “This situation poses a threat. Anyone caught trespassing will face arrest.”

Alexis Malatesta, who used to frequent the mall and even organized a farewell event for its closing, expressed disappointment over its current dilapidated state.

“It’s pretty unsettling because it seems inevitable that something dangerous might occur in there,” Malatesta remarked. “They’re locking the place down, but it doesn’t feel like they’re doing enough for protection.”

The police mentioned they are collaborating with the mall’s owners to bolster security measures and raise awareness regarding the ongoing vandalism.
