LAS VEGAS — Armed suspect Bem Miller, who was arrested Saturday near a Trump rally in Coachella, Calif., appears to have been keeping a low profile in his former Las Vegas neighborhood, where neighbors say he once lived in Nevada. He said he saw him only a handful of times when he was a candidate for the state House of Representatives. Many times over the years I lived on the block.
Miller, 49, reportedly lived with her parents in a rental home on Lavender Heights Court, a small cul-de-sac in the gated community of Astoria Trails South, until they all move out in 2022. It is reported that he lived with an elderly couple who appeared to be. It looked like a garbage dump, neighbors told The Sunday Post.
“I know him, but I only met him once or twice in the years they were together,” said one long-time resident, who was shown a photo of Miller but declined to give his name at the request of a former neighbor. I've never done it before,” he said. He was arrested on suspicion of using a firearm.
Another neighbor said the property owner had to make renovations to the five-bedroom, three-bathroom two-story home, estimated to be worth $529,454, when Miller and her possible relatives moved out. It is said that it did not happen. According to Realtor.com.
“It was full of trash, the backyard was full of filth and weeds were growing,” said the neighbor, a 39-year-old exterminator owner. He only gave his first name, Justin.
Miller and others reportedly moved out of the neighborhood the same year the aspiring politician placed third in the Republican primary for Nevada's state House of Representatives.
But before that, Justin said he had “never seen” Miller.
An exterminator and a neighbor who requested anonymity said the license plate on Miller's car was from Canada, possibly British Columbia.
Most residents of the gated community in western Nevada did not know about the gunman who lived in the 8100 block because they moved to a middle-class development after Miller moved out.
Residents said the entire area is middle class and made up of working families. But on Sunday, while The Post was reporting, gun violence erupted just outside the gates.
A Post reporter saw a man fire a gun at a car in a parking lot across the street from the gated community where Miller lived.
The shootout took place in a gated community across North El Capitan Way from Miller's former development. The man approached the slow-moving sedan, hit her in the arm several times, then pointed his gun and fired at least four shots.
Astoria Trails South residents said that while the area is gated, it is temporary. Many of the homes are rentals, as the Millers have always been and still are.
Officials said Miller was found Saturday at a security checkpoint before a Donald Trump rally with a cache of fake passports and driver's licenses, a shotgun, a loaded handgun and a high-capacity magazine in his car. He was arrested after a sheriff's deputy discovered him.
He was arrested on weapons charges and released on $5,000 bail. The Secret Service said the former president was not in any danger at the Coachella rally.
But Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco accused Mr. Miller of trying to harm or kill Mr. Trump at a news conference Sunday, saying that Mr. Miller's deputies were calling it a “third assassination attempt” on the Republican candidate. was prevented,” he said.
Miller called the allegations “complete bullshit” in an interview. Southern California News Group He said he was a Trump supporter but didn't know that Nevada and California had different gun laws.
The Secret Service believes it is unlikely that Miller was attempting to assassinate the 45th president, and the FBI is not investigating the matter as an attempt on his life, people told the Post.
The newspaper was unable to reach Miller at his reported cell phone number, and text messages were not returned.
