US Treasury Department Unveils Commemorative Coin Featuring Donald Trump
The US Treasury Department has announced a $1 commemorative coin that showcases former President Donald Trump, as reported by NBC News. This initiative coincides with preparations for the United States’ 250th birthday.
US Treasurer Brandon Beach took to social media to clarify that the draft of the coin design is indeed authentic, stating it is “not fake news.” He expressed anticipation about sharing more details once the current government closure concludes.
The coin’s design depicts Trump in profile on one side, and on the other side, he is shown with his fist raised accompanied by the phrase “fight, fight, fight.” This imagery is said to reflect a dramatic moment during an attempted assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania, back in 2024.
An article from NBC indicated that, according to the Circular Collection Coin Redesign Act of 2020, the Treasury is authorized to issue a $1 coin featuring a design marking the nation’s semi-kentennials, set to debut on January 1, 2026.
Additionally, the US Mint’s website has initiated a countdown to the 2026 semi-kentennial celebration, starting from Independence Day 2025. The Mint plans to introduce redesigns for various coins as part of this commemoration, a move authorized by the 2020 Act that President Trump signed into law in January 2021. These coins aim to reflect the 250 years of American freedom and honor the country’s history.
The finalized design is expected to be revealed to the public later this year. The redesign of the currency continues the tradition of commemorating significant anniversaries with special coins and medals.
In November, it was reported that the celebrations for Trump’s 250th anniversary would take place on July 4, 2026. Observers noted that the government has been planning this for several years—a significant task, even before Trump assumed the presidency.
In a noteworthy past event, Trump organized a “Salute to America” on July 4, 2019, at the National Mall. While some Democrats and media critics likened it to displays seen in authoritarian regimes, the event was largely well-received by the public, particularly for its tributes to civil rights icons and displays of military prowess.
According to reports, Trump is also considering hosting a UFC fight at the White House in celebration of America’s 250th birthday.
