‘Very Dark Time for All of Humanity’ Unless India, U.S. Work Together

Vice President JD Vance I said India and the US can build a “prosperous and peaceful” future for the world on Tuesday from Jaipur, northwest India. But if they don’t work together, “the 21st century could be a very dark time for all humanity.”

Vance praise India’s vitality and resilience, in contrast to the “identity and flatness” that tormented several Western countries. He was particularly critical of the end-of-apocalyptic environmentalist ideology:

India has vitality, endless possibilities, new homes to be built, new skylines to be nurtured, and a rich life. And there’s a sense of excitement about being Indian and what’s more. It is a prominent contrast with many in the West, and some of our leadership classes seem to be struck by self-doubt and even fear of the future. For them, humanity is always one bad decision away from catastrophe. They tell us that we burn too much fuel, we make too much stuff, we have too many kids, and the world will end soon. And instead of investing in the future, they too often retreat from there.

Some of them pass laws that force their nation to use less electricity. They cancel nuclear and other energy generation facilities. Their choices, the choices of these leaders, lead to dependence on foreign enemies. Meanwhile, the message to their friends, countries like India are to convey that they are not allowed to grow.

Vance predicts that President Donald Trump’s tariffs will “rebalance” global trade, creating “great benefits for the people of India.” He said Trump’s vision for America as a new industrial force is similar to Modi’s vision for India, and he denounced the “previous administration” for approaching Modi with a “preaching” and “prejudicatory” attitude.

“We want to build a bright new world that is constantly innovating. It helps people form families and makes it easier to build, invest and trade together, pursue common goals,” he said.

Vance said the US is keen to sell India’s energy and help develop its own offshore energy resources and nuclear power generation. He also praised the expansion of coordination with the US on India’s defense.

“American partners don’t have to look exactly like America, and the government doesn’t have to do everything in the exact same way. But we should have some common goals, and here, in both economics and national security, we do,” he said.

“From Javelins to Striker Fighters, our nation will co-produce many of the ammunition and equipment that needs to be stopped by foreign invaders, not because we seek war, but because we seek peace and believe that the best path to peace is through mutual strength,” he said.

Vice President It’s arrived In India, it will be in India on Monday for a four-day tour and meeting starting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He traveled to the company of his children and his wife Usha.

US authorities downplayed the hope that Vance would make significant progress towards a bilateral trade agreement with India during his trip, but in his Jaipur speech, the Vice President strongly indicated that progress is being made. In some respects in his speech, he hinted that US energy exports could be the factor that brings it all together.

Vance will not enter the contract with both Trump and Modi as his cap as a “tough negotiator.”

“We are not blaming Prime Minister Modi for fighting for Indian industry, but we are denounced past American leaders for not doing the same for workers. We believe we can fix it to the mutual benefits of both the US and India,” he said.
