Tristan Rogers Diagnosed with Cancer
Tristan Rogers, who is best known for his role as Robert Scorpio on “General Hospital,” has been diagnosed with cancer, as confirmed by his representatives.
The 79-year-old actor has graced more than 1,400 episodes across popular daytime dramas for over three decades. His representative noted that while Rogers is remaining hopeful and actively engaged with his medical team on treatment options, this is undoubtedly a tough time for him and his family.
“They are requesting privacy and kindness as they navigate through the emotional and physical challenges that come with this diagnosis. They’re deeply appreciative of the love and support from friends and family,” the statement added.
Rogers is also eager to convey his gratitude to fans, expressing how much their loyalty and encouragement mean to him now more than ever.
Beginning his role in 1980, Rogers briefly left “General Hospital” when his character was written off in 1992. He made a return in “General Hospital: Night Shift” and last appeared on the main show in November.
Rogers once described his character as having a somewhat nervous demeanor, saying, “Robert always had a kind of hryvous approach to everything.” He also hinted at a collaborative effort with various actors that fans would appreciate.
Aside from “General Hospital,” he was part of nearly 200 episodes of “The Young and the Restless.” In 2020, he won a Daytime Emmy for his supporting role in the digital drama series “Studio City” and subsequently joined the cast of “The Bay.” With over 50 roles to his credit, Rogers has even worked in voice acting, portraying the character Jake in “Under the Rescuer.”
