VFW strikes agreement to provide cannabis-infused Torch Drinks to veterans

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) are entering an interesting partnership with a Florida drinks company to sell cannabis-infused cocktails. This initiative targets their 1.4 million members across the country.

The collaboration with Torch Drinks will enable major veteran groups to offer low-dose seltzers at VFW posts in states that approve such sales later this year.

These beverages feature Delta-9 THC, a compound found in the cannabis plant known for its psychoactive properties. A portion of the profits made from these sales will support veterans who are financially struggling.

The drinks are infused with Delta-9 THC, sourced from hemp, which is defined legally as cannabis containing less than 0.3% THC. This classification speaks to the ongoing evolution and regulation of cannabis products in the market.

Carol Whitmore, the VFW National Commander, emphasized that the organization’s main goal is to make sure veterans and their families get the benefits and support they deserve for their service.

Partnering with Torch is viewed as a way to fund critical programs while addressing the changing needs of the veteran community.

Research published in the Journal of Affective Disorders suggested that cannabis use might reduce anxiety and depression, which is particularly relevant for many veterans.

However, it’s worth mentioning that the CDC has noted health risks tied to cannabis use, which may include increased chances of stroke and heart disease, along with potential mental health challenges.

On a positive note, customers have reported that Torch products help them feel relaxed and revitalized. The aim is to make these options accessible to veterans and others who may benefit. Supporting those who serve the United States remains central to their mission.

This announcement comes shortly after President Trump highlighted the medical advantages of CBD for seniors. Unlike THC, CBD is a cannabinoid that doesn’t produce psychoactive effects.

At present, 27 states permit the sale of Torch Drinks at VFW posts.
