Testimony at House Oversight Hearing Highlights Epstein’s Abuse
During a recent hearing, a woman known as Roza shared her harrowing experience, stating that Jeffrey Epstein raped her while he was under house arrest in Florida, having previously evaded prison time for sex-related offenses.
Roza’s emotional testimony took place in front of lawmakers at a House Oversight Committee meeting focusing on abuse victims. She expressed, quite candidly, that she should have been in jail at the time of the incident.
At the age of 18, Roza, who was a model from Uzbekistan, recounted how she ended up at Epstein’s Palm Beach mansion. She had been brought to the U.S. on a talent visa arranged by Jean-Luc Brunel, a deceased French model scout associated with Epstein.
“I didn’t even have the proper documents for that visa. I’m absolutely sure of it,” Roza told the committee. “I was sold a dream of a modeling career that felt unattainable.”
She further described the timeline, revealing that less than a month after her arrival in the U.S., her agency sent her to a home belonging to a registered sex offender. “He was supposed to be in jail, but there I was, meeting him at his Palm Beach home,” she recalled tearfully.
“Jeffrey was under house arrest for sexually abusing a minor at the very time he was abusing me,” Roza stated, adding that Epstein exploited her visa status to coerce and abuse her over a lengthy three-year period.
“Knowing he was capable of such acts made me feel that justice was out of reach,” she said.
At the time, Epstein had received a lenient plea deal and was placed under house arrest after admitting to state charges of soliciting prostitution. He spent 13 months out of an 18-month sentence in county jail, yet his work-release privileges meant he could leave during the day.
Roza was one of several individuals who testified as part of an investigation into the vast sex trafficking operation orchestrated by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
“Palm Beach is where Epstein’s heinous acts first came to light and where prosecutors allowed him to strike a deal that facilitated his continued criminal behavior,” remarked Robert Garcia, the committee’s senior Democrat.
“The survivors in Palm Beach have shown remarkable bravery in coming forward, and our investigation is now progressing. We intend to release a report detailing how Epstein created a global human trafficking operation. Our focus is on justice and dismantling this cover-up.”
