Victor Davis Hanson Reveals Upcoming Medical Procedure

Victor Davis Hanson to Undergo Surgery

Victor Davis Hanson, a senior contributor for Daily Signal, revealed on his podcast that he will be undergoing a significant medical procedure this week. During his recovery, co-host Jack Fowler will take over hosting duties.

“I’m facing a serious health issue that requires a major operation. I’ll do everything I can to address it. All I can do now is trust in prayer and faith—and my amazing surgeon,” Hanson shared. He expressed gratitude for receiving care at Stanford Medical Center, describing the staff as “absolutely wonderful.” He remains hopeful that things will work out.

Hanson serves as a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and holds a distinguished fellowship in history at Hillsdale College. Earlier this year, he joined The Daily Signal to share daily video commentaries.

His podcast, titled “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words,” is released four times a week. In Friday’s episode, he informed listeners that he would have surgery on Tuesday to address a persistent health issue.

“I don’t want to delve too much into my circumstances, but I’ve had several people tell me I don’t look well. It’s been a long journey over nine months because, despite not being a smoker or drinker, the problem I experienced was rare and tricky to diagnose. Perhaps I didn’t realize just how unwell I was,” Hanson commented.

After a recent biopsy, he opted for surgery, which will interrupt his work commitments, though he hopes it won’t be for long.

“I’ll be okay. At least I’m going to try my hardest for everyone,” he reassured. “I feel a responsibility to our readers and listeners who send such supportive letters; they’re truly kind individuals.”

Fowler highlighted that many fans have left encouraging messages and prayers for Hanson. Alongside his podcast and syndicated column, he also produces exclusive content for his website, Blade of Perseus.

While Hanson recuperates, Fowler will continue the podcast during his absence.
