Victor Robles Ejected from Rehab Game for Throwing Bat

Victor Robles, the right fielder for the Seattle Mariners, found himself ejected from a Triple-A Tacoma rehabilitation game on Sunday after he threw a bat at the opposing pitcher.

The 28-year-old, who is recovering from a shoulder injury, was up for his second at-bat in three innings against Las Vegas pitcher Joey Estes. Robles is playing with the Tacoma Rainiers as part of his rehab assignment.

During his at-bat, Estes threw a fastball that caught Robles in the shoulder area. In what seemed to be a reaction, Robles retaliated by tossing his bat towards the pitcher, knocking off Estes’ helmet.

Robles then proceeded to yell at Estes as the umpire called for his ejection from the game.

Ignoring the referee’s decision, Robles charged the mound, but his teammates managed to hold him back before tensions escalated further.

Even after leaving the field, Robles wasn’t done expressing his frustration. In the dugout, he hurled a cooler onto the field, spilling its contents, before making his way to the clubhouse.

Robles is currently rehabilitating a left shoulder injury he sustained back on April 6 when he collided with the net at Oracle Park during a game against the San Francisco Giants.

Throughout his five rehab games in Tacoma, he had already received hits in three of them, including two hits in a game earlier this week.

As for potential consequences, it remains uncertain what penalties may follow from this incident involving the thrown bat.

Robles is in his second season with the Mariners after spending the previous eight seasons with the Washington Nationals.
