Incident In Minor League Baseball Game
In a recent minor league baseball game, Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles found himself in a contentious situation while playing for the Tacoma Rainiers. This unfolded during a matchup against the Las Vegas Aviators in the Pacific Coast League, right at the start of the third inning.
Joey Estes was on the mound for Las Vegas and delivered a high and inside pitch, which seemingly rattled Robles. It looked like the baseball made contact with his bat’s barrel, which led to some heated moments. Trying to dodge the pitch didn’t go as planned, and in the ensuing chaos, Robles walked around the catcher and launched his bat toward the pitcher’s mound, targeting Estes.
Shortly after this incident, Robles was ejected from the game, which likely prevented further escalation on the field. The broadcast captured another dramatic moment as he threw a water cooler from the dugout onto the field, adding to the already tense atmosphere.
Ultimately, the Aviators triumphed, finishing with a score of 12-7. Victor Labrada, who replaced Robles, had an impressive performance, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Robles, a World Series champion with the Washington Nationals back in 2019, signed with the Mariners for the 2024 season after being released earlier this year. This season, he played only ten games with Seattle, batting .273 with a .624 on-base plus slugging percentage.
Before this game, Robles was in a rehabilitation stint with Rainiers, recovering from a significant injury, and had been doing quite well, even batting .357 with Tacoma. It’s definitely been a tumultuous period for him on and off the field.
