The family of a woman who went missing five days ago has appealed to volunteers not to put themselves at risk as the search continues.
Police said Victoria Taylor, 34, was last seen at her home in Malton, North Yorkshire, at 9am on Monday. Surveillance camera footage of her in the town's garage later that morning was released.
A large-scale search, including divers, was carried out and many of her personal belongings were discovered near the River Derwent.
Sisters Emma and Heidi said they were “sick, distraught and lost” and thanked the community for their support but urged people not to put themselves at risk.
“We would like to thank all the emergency services and volunteers who have helped with the search for Vic so far,” they said in a statement on Friday. “The wider local community has also rallied together and we are forever grateful for the support they have given our Vic family.
“We are grateful that police have told us that the search will continue over the weekend. The water has been difficult due to the recent weather, so if people are out looking for Vic, please do not put yourself at risk.” ”
Taylor is described as white and approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black padded Adidas Originals jacket and a gray Jack Wills hooded jumper. She was carrying a salmon/pink Vans backpack.
A police spokeswoman said officers spent hours examining CCTV and drone footage from around Malton, where Taylor was last seen.
Superintendent Martin Dennison said on Thursday: “We are extremely concerned about Victoria's whereabouts and, like her family and friends, want to make sure she is safe and well.” Be careful when looking for Victoria near rivers.
