Video Captures Altercation Between Pirates Employee and Fan Who Spit at Him

Employees working for the Pittsburgh Pirates were suspended after getting into a fight with unruly fans at PNC Park on Sunday, during a game against the San Diego Padres.

According to reports, the altercation started when fans allegedly harassed a woman at a concession stand, prompting game day staff to intervene and escort the rowdy group away.

Footage from bystanders shows that employees attempted multiple times to separate from the disruptive fans before physical confrontations broke out. In one instance, after being provoked, an employee reacted by using his belt against a fan.

Officials from the team stated they are currently reviewing video and security footage of the events. The Pittsburgh Police Department is also conducting their own investigation, according to the report.

“We are aware of the unfortunate incident that occurred following yesterday’s game involving employees and guests at PNC Park,” the Pirates expressed in a statement. “The actions of the employee are unacceptable, and he was promptly removed. The incident is under further investigation.”

One fan shared their opinion, suggesting that fans who confront employees should face consequences.

“If an usher tells you to leave, you need to leave,” Chris Rayleigh remarked. “There should be appropriate accountability, not just a slap on the wrist.”

Another fan added that violence has no place at sporting events.

“It’s an issue,” Terri Gregt commented. “We shouldn’t be hurting anyone during these events. Everyone’s here for enjoyment, and it seems we’ve lost the ability to be considerate towards one another.”
