Robbers Set a Marijuana Dispensary on Fire — Literally
What a scene unfolded in Michigan.
Surveillance footage captured masked individuals trying to ignite a marijuana dispensary, only for one of them to end up on fire themselves.
“It was definitely amateur hour,” mused Mike Bahora, owner of the Pure Cannabis Outlet in Monroe. He couldn’t believe what he saw, describing the moment as chaotic.
According to the footage, a Jeep Cherokee rammed into the storefront just after 1 a.m. on Sunday, about 60 miles southwest of Detroit.
Two masked suspects exited the vehicle, rushed inside, took some merchandise, and started pouring gasoline on the counter.
But things took a wild turn. The fire ignited quickly, catching at least one of the culprits in the flames. Video captured the suspect running across the parking lot, still engulfed in fire.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Bahora said, reflecting on the dramatic footage.
“I assumed it was just a smash-and-grab, like they were merely after free stuff,” he added.
Bahora expressed disbelief at the lengths the suspects went to, saying he never imagined anyone would escalate things to that level. “I feel like I’m being targeted,” he noted.
Fortunately, the store’s sprinklers quickly put out the fire, allowing Bahora to reopen for business later that day.
“We have insurance, so we’re okay. My biggest worry was the staff if things had gotten worse,” he shared.
As of now, no arrests have been made, but Bahora is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to a conviction, confident that they will identify the individuals responsible.
The value of stolen products has not been revealed. The Jeep used in the incident was discovered at the scene and confirmed stolen from Detroit by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
On a lighter note, the store is embracing the bizarre situation, sharing parody videos on social media and getting creative with gas cans. “We’re planning to use them as a tip jar to have a bit of fun with it,” said floor manager Brianna Pittman.
