Heroic Rescue by New Jersey Troopers

A video has emerged showing two courageous New Jersey state troopers rescuing a disabled man from a car trapped on a railroad track, just moments before a train collided with the vehicle.

The dash cam footage, captured shortly after midnight on May 12th, depicts officers struggling to pull the driver from his car as flashing lights and ringing bells signal the impending approach of the train. “We’re dragging him out of the car. The car is stuck,” the officers are heard communicating over the police radio.

Amidst the chaos, an officer exclaims, “It’s going to hit a car,” as the train approaches at full speed. Seconds later, a collision occurs with what appears to be a Tesla, creating a dramatic scene.

Officers Devin Hinchcliffe and John Ward from the Piscataway Township Police Station have received widespread praise for their prompt actions that likely saved the man’s life. In a statement released on Facebook, the police department noted, “Recognizing the imminent danger posed by the approaching train, officers quickly and safely removed the driver seconds before the impact.”

The situation unfolded on New Brunswick Avenue, and authorities revealed that the driver, due to his condition, was unable to exit the vehicle without assistance. “Their professionalism and quick decision-making definitely hindered the tragedy,” said the department in a separate post, expressing their admiration for the officers’ effective response.

While the exact circumstances surrounding the driver’s medical emergency remain unclear, the incident has sparked an outpouring of support and gratitude online. Facebook users commended the officers for their selfless efforts, with one commenter saying, “This is amazing. God bless them. They are not fully paid,” while another echoed, “Thank you for always putting your life on the line to protect someone else and keep your community safe.”

The rescue occurred just a few days before another dash cam video surfaced, capturing another driver experiencing a medical emergency, drawing attention to the dangers road users sometimes face.
