Police Release Video of Suspect in Philanthropist’s Shooting

Authorities have shared footage of a suspect linked to the shooting death of a well-known philanthropist in a wealthy Washington, D.C. suburb, hoping the public can assist in identifying this individual.

Robert Fuller Jr., aged 87, was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head in his residence at the Cogill Potomac Senior Living facility early on February 14. The Montgomery County, Maryland Police Department is treating his death as a homicide.

On Friday, law enforcement released surveillance video capturing a figure within the grounds of the senior living facility during the time of the incident.

This person is now regarded as a suspect in the shooting of Fuller.

The surveillance footage features an individual with long black hair walking away from the camera in an outdoor space. Though the person’s face isn’t visible, there’s something distinctive about the way they walk.

As of now, police have not provided a concrete description of the suspect’s gender or race and noted that it could be either male or female.

Authorities are urging anyone who recognizes the clothing worn by this individual or has details about their unique gait to reach out to the Major Crimes Unit at 240-773-5070 or Montgomery County Crime Solvers.

A reward ranging from $250 to $10,000 may be offered for information that leads to an arrest.

Robert Fuller was a retired Navy Reserve officer and a prominent lawyer from Augusta, Maine, celebrated for his philanthropic efforts. Reports indicate he contributed over $1.6 million to upgrade athletic facilities at Coney High School in Augusta, particularly after financial issues halted the project during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to the stadium being named in his honor.

Additionally, he made donations to Maine General Medical Center, the Kennebec Historical Society, the Kennebec Valley YMCA, local libraries, and historic landmarks like Old Fort Western, as highlighted by the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce.
