Surveillance Video Emerges in Charlie Kirk Shooting Case
PROVO, Utah — Newly released surveillance footage shows Tyler Robinson, the suspected assassin of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, at a gas station in Utah. This sighting was just a day after Kirk was shot while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.
Local law enforcement was alerted to the Maverik Gas Station in Cedar City following reports that Robinson might have discarded evidence in a nearby trash can. Officers responded and found the surveillance footage, but confirmed he did not dispose of any items while at the gas station.
In the video, Robinson’s Dodge Challenger is seen arriving at the Maverik gas station around 7:15 a.m. on September 11, within 24 hours of the manhunt for him. He can be observed exiting his car to fuel it and paying with his credit card.
“After filling the tank, he took out the nozzle, secured the gas cap, returned to his vehicle, and left,” Cedar Police noted in their incident report. “Tyler never went near the trash can or disposed of anything.”
This video represents an early piece of evidence in tracking Robinson’s journey from Orem to St. George as authorities worked to locate Kirk’s alleged killer.
Later that day, Robinson was apprehended in St. George, according to court documents. He is facing seven charges, including aggravated murder, which could carry the death penalty, alongside other firearms-related charges and tampering with witnesses. As of now, he has not entered a plea.
On Monday, his legal team requested additional time to review the evidence before deciding if they would ask for a preliminary hearing. Prosecutors have indicated plans to seek the death penalty in this case.
