Newly obtained video shows the moment UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot at close range outside the Hilton Hotel in midtown Manhattan on Wednesday morning.
In chilling footage obtained by Fox News Digital, Thompson is seen walking down a New York City sidewalk when a masked man wearing a black hoodie and a backpack walks up behind him and grabs his gloved hand. He is shown holding a handgun.
The criminal fires several shots. At one point, the gun appears to become stuck. The assailant then appears to slam the gun into the side of the victim while walking toward him as he tries to escape.
As Thompson approached, the man appeared to continue to struggle with the pistol, possibly firing another shot at the victim who appeared to be struggling to move.

The gunfire erupts just meters away, and terrified pedestrians can be seen feeling the effects.
The suspect then walked between two vehicles and disappeared into Central Park on an e-Citi bike, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) said.
The suspect is still at large. The NYPD released new images of the suspect Wednesday afternoon.

“Early today, I was briefed by the New York State Police Superintendent about the horrific shooting that targeted UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan,” Hochul said. “I have directed the State Police to provide the NYPD with all necessary assistance in the investigation to ensure the safety of all New Yorkers. Our thoughts are with Mr. Thompson's family and loved ones. We will do everything in our power to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.” ”
