Firefighter Falls While Battling Blaze in Los Angeles
Alarming video making the rounds shows a firefighter from the Los Angeles Fire Department plummeting from a ladder while combating a fire at a residence in Arlington Heights, central Los Angeles.
In the clip, a hook ladder is seen extending towards the second floor of the home, with several firefighters on an aerial ladder attached to the fire truck. A clip from the Citizen app captures one of the firefighters trying to get onto the roof from the aerial ladder but losing his grip and falling several feet, prompting gasps from shocked onlookers.
Fortunately, fire officials reported that despite the fall, the firefighter only suffered minor injuries and is set to recover fully.
According to reports, LAFD was called to a fire that ignited on the second floor of a home on South Wilton Place shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The property, a five-bedroom, two-bathroom house, is estimated to be worth around $2.3 million. Interestingly, a sign in the front yard indicates that it may also operate as a Korean church, identified as Soman Church of Southern California, led by Pastor Tae-Jun Ji.
Firefighters managed to put out the fire within approximately 20 minutes, and thankfully, there was no damage incurred to neighboring homes.
