Video Shows Firefighters Rescuing Woman Who Crashed Into Pond

Body camera footage shows firefighters in Orange County, Florida, rescuing a woman whose car crashed into a pond next to the fire station on April 10.

The Orange County Fire and Rescue Department (OCFR) announced on Facebook that a vehicle was seen running off the road at Station 42 and into a reservoir near the station. The crew immediately sprang into action, rushing into the water and beginning to rescue the victims.

“Rescue workers pulled the victim out of the open window of the vehicle just before it sank, and helped the driver to shore, where he was transported by paramedics to the hospital with no injuries,” the fire department said in a statement.

It is believed the woman lost control of the car as she attempted a U-turn, crashing through a fence and into the water. Said Click on “Orlando”.

“The call from the time the alarm went off until the car disappeared was less than five minutes, so it was very quick,” Lt. Amber Lugo told the publication.

Firefighter Daniel Diaz was outside the station at the time of the incident and alerted the rest of his team, the newspaper said. (Related: Video shows bus falls into Russian River, killing multiple people).

“As soon as I saw it, I ran into the station and everyone was sitting at the table. [I] Let them know what’s going on,” Diaz told the outlet. “The staff worked together very quickly. Very quickly, we were able to save that woman. Otherwise, things would have gone in a different direction.” It could have been a different outcome for us, so I’m grateful that we were able to come here and respond as quickly as possible.”

OCFR announced on Facebook that Lugo and engineer Hubert were recognized for their rescue efforts. Other members of the station who answered the call were also recognized for their contributions.
