It’s both terrifying and wonderful!
Australian fishermen had an incredibly close encounter with a giant great white shark off the coast of Port Stephens, just north of Newcastle in New South Wales, with fisherman Jamie Culver capturing the “epic and terrifying” moment on video. To tell It was his “most amazing experience” with marine life so far.
Culver said he and some friends were out fishing on a boat when suddenly, a great white appeared and “swam around us for nearly an hour while we continued fishing.” A video posted to Instagram that has since gone viral shows the giant monster circling the boat and approaching the anglers’ fishing rods. “It’s a rare human experience to feel fear and awe at the same time and this wild apex predator had that effect on me,” Culver said in an Instagram post. “I’d always dreamed of a chance encounter but never imagined it would be on such a grand scale. So graceful and serene in some ways, yet so in the DNA of my nightmares. It was amazing to experience it with such great company and it’s a memory I’ll never forget.”
