On Jan. 23, a Queens mother is seen on video chasing her teenage daughter after the alleged kidnapper grabs her and runs away.
Adriana Alvarez heard the doorbell around 9 a.m. when a deli worker who was said to be obsessed with her 18-year-old daughter, Rex, grabbed the victim, attempted to kidnap her, and ran out of her apartment, according to doorbell video. This was revealed in the video. new york post.

Police later identified the suspected kidnapper as George Vasiliu, the newspaper reported. The 25-year-old suspect, wearing a mask and camouflage jacket, came down the stairs and ambushed the victim as he returned to his fourth-floor apartment after walking his dog.
Vasiliu was recorded jumping at the victim and then grabbing him by the shoulder as he screamed. The victim’s mother sprinted toward the suspect and punched her repeatedly, causing him to push her down the stairs, the paper said.
“I’ve never heard my daughter scream like that,” the 35-year-old mother told the magazine. She “thought the dog might have run downstairs, but when she came outside she saw her daughter being dragged out.”
“I never imagined something like this would happen to me, especially in my building. It was awful.”
Alvarez said his punches had no effect on the 230-pound suspect, who at 6 feet 2 inches is more than a foot taller than him, the newspaper reported. Basiliu reportedly punched the victim’s mother in the face and then pepper sprayed both women. Alvarez suffered a dislocated shoulder, a fractured eye socket and a fractured elbow as a result of the altercation. The newspaper said his mother and his daughter cried out for help multiple times, and a neighbor beat the suspect with a stick before they finally ran away from Vasiliu. Alvarez said Basiliu said “this was all planned.”
Police said Vasiliu was charged with attempted kidnapping, assault, possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a hazardous substance, harassment and violation of a protection order. The suspect was taken into custody on Rikers Island and bail was set at $50,000. record show.
