Video shows newborn being dumped in Texas heat — before hero couple saves her

A shocking video shows a callous man abandoning a naked newborn baby in the scorching Texas heat, then sprinting away to avoid being spotted – before a passing couple spotted him and came to his rescue.

As temperatures soared to 95 degrees Fahrenheit early Saturday morning, the premature baby, whose identity remains unknown, was left wrapped in a towel on a bridge over a creek in Katy.

Sergeant Juan Garcia with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said at the scene that the baby “was just born, with the placenta still attached.”

Grainy CCTV footage taken from a distance shows the man slowly approaching the bridge and lowering the helpless newborn to the ground, first backing away slowly before sprinting away.

Luckily, a couple walking nearby with their young child found the baby within minutes, and the same footage shows them rushing to his aid and protecting him until police arrived.

“I saw these two little legs moving, and I screamed to my husband because he was right behind me with the dog, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, baby, baby,'” Daniella Fedele said. He told KHOU.

“And my husband [says] “They told us, ‘Call 911, call 911,’ and that’s what we did,” she said.

“My husband went ahead and picked up the baby, and they found the closest tree to the house across the street and they found a little bit of shade,” she told the outlet.

“I was shocked, angry, distraught,” she said of finding the baby girl alone. “Fire station, police station, hospital, take me anywhere you want, but don’t leave my baby there.”

The couple waited for officers to arrive and then handed the child over to officials who transported him to a local hospital.

Fortunately, police said she is in good condition.

Garcia, of the sheriff’s office, praised Fedele and her husband as a “godsend” for saving the baby.

Police say they have yet to identify the suspect who abandoned the baby, nor the baby’s mother.
