Police Video Released of Officer-Involved Shooting in San Antonio

San Antonio police recently shared video footage from an officer-involved shooting that took place last month.

According to reports, four SWAT officers were acting on an arrest warrant shortly after 5 p.m. on June 16.

“Strong work. We pray for a speedy recovery for the officer and a swift trial and conviction for the perpetrator,” a statement noted.

Officers arrived in an unmarked vehicle and found the suspect sitting in a parked car. They positioned themselves in front and observed the suspect brandishing a weapon.

Subsequently, the suspect fired at the officers, prompting all four to return fire multiple times.

Video footage of the encounter has been made available for viewing.

Both the suspect, Roman Pena, 35, and a police officer were injured during the altercation and taken to a hospital for treatment. Thankfully, no bystanders were harmed.

Pena has been charged with four counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer.

The officers involved in the incident have been with the San Antonio Police Department for eight to nine years. In addition to police investigations, the District Attorney’s Office is also looking into the incident, which is standard for officer-involved shootings.
