Videos of Francis Ford Coppola appear to show director kissing extras on set amid troubling allegations

A few months later Francis Ford Coppola The “Godfather” director, who has been accused of inappropriate behavior on the set of his new movie “Megalopolis,” has had a video released that appears to show him kissing multiple women on set.

In the video I got varietyThe 85-year-old director can reportedly be seen hugging and kissing various extras while shooting a nightclub scene for the sci-fi movie.

According to the media, the scene was filmed at the Tabernacle concert hall in Atlanta on February 14, 2023. Variety reported that the shooting instructions stated that the actresses playing the female roles attending the party “were given permission to be topless nude,” while the other performers “were given permission to wear revealing clothing.”

Director Francis Ford Coppola was seen hugging and kissing several extras while filming his new movie, “Megalopolis.”

A source told Variety that after multiple takes, Coppola took a microphone and told the audience, “Sorry if I come up to you all and kiss you, but just know that this is entirely for my pleasure.”

According to the media outlet, no one tried to stop him or publicly express concerns.

“Coppola funded it. [the film]”There was no human resources department overseeing the situation at the time,” the source said. “Who were they supposed to talk to? Should they have complained to Coppola and reported it to him?”

A representative for Coppola did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

In May, The Guardian published an article alleging a series of behind-the-scenes problems, including Coppola’s alleged flirtations with women.

Sources told the outlet that Coppola is “old school” and would sometimes have women sit on his lap. As for kissing and hugging, a source told The Guardian that Coppola “was trying to get the women in the mood.”

In a statement to The Guardian, Megalopolis co-executive producer Darren Demetre said, “I have known and worked with Francis and his family for over 35 years. On his new epic, Megalopolis, I was one of the first assistant directors, executive producer and helped oversee and advise on production, and ran the second unit. Francis has successfully produced and directed a major independent film, making all the difficult decisions to deliver it on time and within budget while staying true to his creative vision.”

“During the two days we shot the Studio 54-style celebratory club scene, Francis walked around the set giving cast and background actors loving hugs and kisses on the cheek to add to the atmosphere of the scene. This was his way of creating the club atmosphere that was so important to the film. We never heard any complaints of harassment or inappropriate behavior during the life of the project,” he added.

Coppola was recently profiled in the New York Times, where he was asked about the Guardian report.

“I don’t like skinship,” Coppola told the outlet. “I’m very shy.”

“Megalopolis” is Coppola’s first film in 13 years and his 23rd overall, a blockbuster he has been working on for decades, investing $120 million of his own money in.
