The Minnesota Vikings are playing Moneyball.
One of the biggest regular season games in history between the Vikings and rival Detroit Lions will determine the NFC North champion and top seed in Sunday's conference.
Ahead of the game at Ford Field in Detroit, the Vikings are spending money to try to offset the Lions' home-field advantage.
According to Sports Illustrated, the Vikings spent about $2 million on about 1,900 tickets for seats behind the visitor's sideline at Ford Field on Sunday and are now reselling those tickets to fans at a deep discount. It is said that there is.

The Vikings also sent an email to season ticket holders notifying them of the special offer.
The Lions reportedly filed a complaint with the league office, but were told the Vikings did not violate league rules.
The game between the longtime district rivals is significant considering both teams are 14-2 but neither team has won a Super Bowl.

The Vikings have appeared in the Super Bowl four times, but lost all four times. Detroit has never been to the Super Bowl.
The winner of this game will have the clearest path to the Super Bowl in the NFC.

The Lions maintained first place in the NFC North with a close 31-29 win in Minnesota earlier this season. The win gives the Lions a tie against the Vikings on Sunday night and clinches the top seed in the NFC.
The Vikings haven't won against the Lions at Ford Field since January 2021, the final week of the 2020 season, and finished the season with a 7-9 record with a 37-35 victory. Minnesota finished with 5 wins and 11 losses.

The Lions have won the last four games against the Vikings and advanced to the NFC Championship Game last year. The Vikings were thought to be in a rebuilding phase, but the emergence of quarterback Sam Darnold spurred one of the most shocking storylines of the NFL season.

The team that loses on Sunday will be relegated to the top wild-card spot and must play the first round of the playoffs on the road.
The winner receives a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the divisional round and possibly the NFC Championship Game.
