Vikings express interest in Ryan Tannehill, ‘not pursuing’ Aaron Rodgers

The offseason NFL quarterback carousel may have another participant, and the Vikings are considering bringing in Ryantanne Hill. Reported on Friday.

News that the team is in contact with the former Titans and Dolphin QB comes after the NFL network reported earlier this week that the Vikings were not pursuing another free agent signalling caller, Aaron Rodgers.

The Vikings are expected to go to JJ McCarthy, their first round pick a year ago.

Former Jet QB Sam Darnold got a start job after McCarthy's injury and had a career renaissance, which led him to sign his own offseason free contract with the Seahawks.

The Vikings still need more depth at quarterback and have not discussed his deal with 36-year-old Tannehill, but he could be intriguing.

He didn't sign all of the teams last season after spending the last five years with the Titans.

Tannehill also played for seven years for Miami after Dolphins became the eighth overall pick from Texas A&M in 2012.

As for Rogers, the NFL Network reported that the Vikings were not “pursuing” the former Jet and Green Bay Packers as McCarthy is planning to become the starter.

Tannehill makes more sense as the Vikings are in the market for backup.

And there are still other veteran quarterbacks looking for work.

The Giants and Steelers are both interested in Rogers. Rogers is taking the time to find a new destination after being released by the Jets.

Russell Wilson has also not landed in a new location after an inconsistent season with the Steelers.

The Giants signed former Browns QB Jameis Winston.

They also discussed with Joe Fraco, who played for the Colts last year before Indianapolis competed with former giant Daniel Jones with Anthony Richardson.

With other QBs moving this offseason, Matthew Stafford stayed with the Rams after appearing temporarily as if the Rams could be traded.

Another former Jet and giant Genosmith were traded to the Raiders from Seattle.
