Jordan Addison Suspended for Three Games
Jordan Addison, the wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, has been handed a three-game suspension by the NFL for breaching its personal conduct policy. This decision comes after Addison was involved in a DUI case that drew attention last month.
The 23-year-old player was found asleep in the driver’s seat of his white Rolls-Royce in July 2024. He had been reported by the California Highway Patrol due to him blocking traffic. Quite an unusual situation, right?
In what is termed a “wet reckless” plea deal in California, Addison accepted a misdemeanor charge for reckless driving linked to the DUI, which indicates that alcohol or drugs were involved.
His lawyer, Jacqueline Sparagna, mentioned that Addison is set to fulfill a fine and complete two online courses. He hopes this will help reduce his probation period from a year down to six months.
Despite the suspension, Addison will still be eligible to participate in the preseason games against teams like the Houston Texans, New England Patriots, and Tennessee Titans. However, he will miss three crucial regular-season games against the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, and Cincinnati Bengals.
This puts the Vikings in a tight spot, especially with their starting quarterback, JJ McCarthy, making his first career start during the season opener without one of his star receivers. The dynamic duo of Addison and superstar Justin Jefferson had already been considered a major threat on the field.
Last season, Addison played in 15 games, racking up 63 catches and nine touchdowns for a total of 875 yards. As for Jefferson, he had an impressive season himself, with 103 catches for 1,533 yards and 10 touchdowns. Addison is known to find the end zone frequently, boasting a total of 19 receiving touchdowns over his career. It’s a bit unsettling to think what this suspension might mean for his momentum going forward.
