Vikings legends Cris Cater, Jake Reed lead Randy Moss tributes after ex-NFL star reveals cancer diagnosis

Randy Moss was on the minds of his fellow Minnesota Vikings greats Monday night after the former NFL superstar announced he had been diagnosed with cancer last week.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Cris Carter and former Vikings star Jake Reed entered the field holding up Moss jerseys.

“Let's moss cancer,” said the public address announcer at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Two players held up their jerseys as officials tossed a coin with each team's captain at midfield.

In the first quarter, Vikings star Justin Jefferson caught a touchdown pass from Sam Darnold. He looked into the camera and exclaimed, “We love you Randy! It was for you.”

Moss said Friday that he is a “cancer survivor,” adding that he was hospitalized for six days and underwent surgery. He thanked the medical team and everyone who prayed for him.

“I'm a cancer survivor,” Moss said. “There were some difficult times, but we got through it.”

Moss said doctors discovered cancer in his bile duct, “right between the pancreas and the liver.”

“I never thought I would be in this position, even though I was as healthy as I thought I was.”

Moss resigned from his role as an analyst on ESPN's “Sunday NFL Countdown” earlier this month.

“As soon as I'm healthy enough to be back with everyone, I'll be on set. … I hope to be back with everyone soon,” Moss said.

“My goal is to get back on TV with my team.”

Moss, 47, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018 after playing 14 seasons with the Vikings (1998-2004, 2010), Oakland Raiders (2005-2006), New England Patriots (2007-10) and Tennessee Titans. fulfilled. (2010) and San Francisco 49ers (2012).

Moss ranks second in NFL history with 156 touchdown catches and set an NFL record with 23 touchdown receptions with the Patriots in 2007.
