Rondale Moore Passes Away at Age 25

Rondale Moore, a wide receiver for the Vikings, has died at the age of 25 in southern Indiana, as reported by various sources.

The Floyd County Coroner confirmed that an autopsy is scheduled, and the cause of death is currently under investigation.

New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey shared that Moore was found in a garage with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Born in New Albany, Indiana, Moore excelled as a three-sport athlete in high school, later transferring to Trinity High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He was recognized as the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year in 2017.

Moore shined during his time at Purdue, where he captured 1,258 receiving yards on 114 receptions and scored 12 touchdowns, earning first-team All-American honors.

Following the announcement of his death, Jeff Brohm, Moore’s head coach at Purdue and now at Louisville, expressed his sorrow. In a statement, he said, “Rondale Moore was really fun to coach. The ultimate competitor who never backed down from any challenge. Rondale had a work ethic that was second to none. He was a great teammate who would overcome any situation.”

Brohm added, “We all loved Rondale. We loved his smile and competitive spirit as he tried to please everyone he interacted with. We send all our thoughts and prayers to Rondale and his family. We love him so much.”

Moore was drafted by the Cardinals in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft and played three seasons in Arizona before a trade to the Falcons after the 2023 season.

Unfortunately, he didn’t get to play for the Falcons, as a knee injury during training camp ahead of the 2024 season landed him on injured reserve.

In March 2025, the Vikings signed Moore to a $2 million one-year contract, but he faced another season-ending knee injury during a preseason game against the Texans on August 9.
