Brian King Joseph Sues Will Smith Over Allegations
Former contestant of America’s Got Talent and professional violinist Brian King Joseph has initiated legal action against actor and rapper Will Smith, along with his management firm, Trayball Studio Management. The lawsuit, which includes claims of sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and retaliation, was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Joseph, who toured with Smith in 2025, claims he was unjustly fired after he reported safety issues at work. In his complaint, he details an incident where someone allegedly entered his hotel room in Las Vegas during the tour, leaving behind various personal items, including a note that expressed potential romantic intentions.
The lawsuit describes Smith and his management’s behavior as “predatory,” asserting that they engaged in grooming practices aimed at Joseph for sexual exploitation during Smith’s “Based on a True Story: 2025 Tour” this past spring. Joseph was first hired by Smith for a performance in San Diego in November 2024, which led to an invitation to join the tour and help with an upcoming album.
As their professional relationship grew, Joseph claims Smith made statements indicating a unique connection between them. During the initial phase of the tour in Las Vegas, a hotel key mysteriously went missing, raising suspicions within management. Joseph notes that only Smith’s team had access to his room. In the wake of these events, Joseph found a note warning him of someone returning to his room, which he interpreted as a threat.
After reporting the situation to Smith’s team, Joseph was promptly dismissed from the tour and accused of making false claims. He alleges that this dismissal has led to PTSD and other mental health issues. In the lawsuit, he seeks a jury trial for compensatory damages and legal fees, alongside any other relief deemed suitable by the jury.
Smith’s lawyer, Allen B. Grodsky, has denied the allegations, labeling them as false and reckless. He stated they will vigorously defend against these claims and work to uncover the truth.
