Virginia animal rescue pilot killed in devastating plane crash while transporting rescue dogs

A Virginia pilot who helped rescue animals died in a plane crash Sunday.

According to the Greene County Sheriff's Office, 49-year-old Seok Kim was operating a Mooney M20J and was carrying three dogs when his plane, which was flying from Maryland to Albany, crashed into Kim. It crashed approximately 55 miles south of its destination.

Kim was found dead at the scene along with a dog. A second dog was found at the scene with two broken legs, and as investigators worked on the scene, they found a third dog with minor injuries. Both dogs were transported by Higher Ground Rescue with PAW (Partners for Animal Welfare) for veterinary treatment.
