Virginia mother Autumn Nicole Draper falls 100 feet to her death inside vast cave

A mother in rural Virginia tragically fell 100 feet to her death while exploring a cave last week, officials said.

The 38-year-old woman has been identified as Autumn Nicole Draper. local mediaHe was found dead by first responders after going into a cave in Staffordville on Friday, according to Giles County Emergency Services.

Police, fire and rescue agencies quickly responded to the scene after receiving reports of a woman falling from a height of 100 feet, but quickly realized they needed “additional specialized resources.” This was announced by the county's emergency services.

The body of the victim, reportedly from Fair Lawn, was “rescued” from the cave around 1 a.m. the next morning by rescue teams from the Giles Sheriff's Office who cleared the scene.

While the investigation is ongoing, relatives mourned Draper's sudden death.

“My beautiful sister is with God right now. My heart is broken and I don't know what to say,” said a Facebook post believed to be from her brother Brandon Cote.

He also vowed to look after his daughter and “be the best dad I can” to her.

“I promise to shower her with love. I will protect her, I will always show up and be there for her,” Kurt said in a touching eulogy.

The newspaper reached out to Court for comment late Tuesday.
