Virginia police officers shot during traffic stop near Chantilly shopping center

Two police officers are in the hospital after exchanging a shootout with suspects during a traffic stop Wednesday in Fairfax County, Virginia.

The shooting took place around 3pm in the 4000 block of Majestic Lane, according to the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD). The location is near the Greenbrier Town Centre and is a popular shopping destination with dozens of retailers in Chantilly.

Two officers who have not yet been publicly identified were taken to hospital, with no life-threatening injuries being carried, according to the FCPD.

The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, is in custody, officials said.

It was not immediately clear whether the suspect was injured in the argument.
