Virginia Tech alleged to have interfered in contentious college football situation

Seems like the drama in college football is surfacing.

Recently, North Carolina Central coach Trey Oliver shared some interesting anecdotes during a media event on Friday. It turns out a Virginia Tech assistant was scouting J’Mari Taylor, a key player from one of his recent games.

When asked about the oddest experiences he’s had while coaching, Oliver recounted, “Virginia Tech was actually looking at running backs from my sidelines. It was quite something. Honestly, I was a bit shocked.”

Although Oliver didn’t mention Taylor by name, it was later revealed that Taylor had transferred to the University of Virginia.

There was a moment when the assistant coach from NC Central had to calm Oliver down, as the Virginia Tech coach assured him he was “just visiting.” But Oliver knew there was more to it.

“I recognized what was going on,” Oliver admitted.

In response to this situation, Virginia Tech issued a statement on Saturday that they would look into the matter.

“This is our first awareness of this issue, and we haven’t received prior concerns through formal channels,” the statement noted. “Virginia Tech respects all NCAA rules and is committed to implementing them consistently. We will review this matter and address the outcomes as needed.”

Oliver seems to have a vested interest in the current scenario, especially with the upcoming matchup when the Cavaliers take on the Hokies to wrap up the season.

“I’m happy he chose UVA,” Oliver stated. “And I have a feeling UVA will perform well against others.”
